WISDOM: The Last Hope!

The Hope For Everyone!

“If you were born poor, its not your fault but if you die poor then its your fault.” It’s the famous line in the country about struggles and success while growing up in a Third World country the Philippines.

Seeing the real situations in the country being a Filipino will crush your heart in pain as poverty is dominant and a normal scene everyday across the archipelago. Homeless children’s roaming around the streets begging for food and money, sleeping in the dangerous streets unsheltered from the sun and heat. These situations drive some unfortunate Filipinos to commit crimes through the acts of stealing and scams.

Dr. Jose Rizal once said “The youth is the hope for the future of our land”. If that is true, then what actions have been done by the Philippine Government to address the issue?

Although the Government had created many programs for the less fortunate but then it wasn’t enough due to improper execution of the programs and too much red tapes in the administration. If this is what’s happening, then what course of action should we do to alleviate the exacerbating poverty in the country?

Every Filipinos in the country believes that “Education is the key to Success”. Education is the last hope of poor Filipinos to have a better life. But how will we educate our future leaders if the access to learning is limited due to lack of resources from family’s to give their children’s a better hope for the future?

Helping hand is the answer to that. Who will help? How will they help? Those are some of the questions that pop ups right away. This is where the “Tabang Eskwela” goes in to bridge the gap to the access for a better learning.

‘Tabang Eskwela” in English means “School Help”. It is an outreach program of a non government organization (NGO) created in May 2016 and formally launched on December 2016. It’s launching was made possible through the benevolence of my good friend in college who painstakingly funded it initially. Later on, the organization grows with many benefactors coming from different fields of professions with the help of some friends.

The organization sponsors scholarship grants, school supplies, and anything that is needed in school in order to inspire the kids to do well in school for their future. They also provide seminars, trainings, leadership talks, and community outreach program to mold them as our future leaders.

The recipients of  the project were assessed and carefully chosen whether they have the capacity to spend an ample amount for their education. Most of them coming from very less fortunate family who are in dire need of education.

The “Tabang Eskwela” has sponsored more than one hundred students already coming from Mina, Iloilo and its neighboring towns. Currently, they have forty-one students under their project and will grow more in the coming years.

Planting was never an easy job. But reaping the fruits from the seeds that you sow can be fulfilling and rewarding.
