The Venice of Philippines

                                                                               The Venice of Philippines

Dreaming of Venice, Italy? Well, dream no more with the Venice of the Philippines, The Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bagac, Bataan will bring you there and will take you back in time of the historical houses gathered from all over the country.

The Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is a collections of different old and historical houses all over the Philippines. With its flamboyant and timeless classic piece of architectural designs will lead you back to what it was to be in the 17th to 19th century.

The river cruise will make you feel what it was to be in a gondola in Venice. The riverbanks design was inspired to what you will see in Venice. Its design exudes beauty that is truly mesmerizing and will leave you jaw dropping in awe.

How it was built?

It started as a hobby for the couple (Architect and Engineer) who loves to collect old and historical houses in the country. They purchase each one of those houses with a very careful marking in dismantling it from its original location piece by piece, from the very first nail to the last drop of paint and transport it to Bagac in Bataan for the assembling.

Some parts of the house were already refurbished as damages for the longest time is inevitable. They cooked their own bricks and tiles in a traditional manner to closely match its original looks.

Interior of Hotel de Orient
The artists and engineers are so talented that will surprise you the details in their wood tiles, wood carvings, and wood parquet especially in Hotel de Orient which resembles closely to Yusupov Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia or the one in Moscow, Russia called Bolshoi Theatre. You will find every bit of the details was carefully handcrafted with artists loving hands.

What to do there?

Upon your arrival in the site, you will be asked to present your booking receipt from the gate by the security guard. Then, you can ride in their shuttle going to the reception area.
In the reception area, you will be asked again to present your booking receipt. After that, they will give you a map and schedules of tour and you can leave your belongings at the same time in the area.

They will then divide you into groups for the tour guide to handle and manage your scheduled tour. You will then start the tour and the tourist guide will give you a brief historical background of the property as well as the history of each house you will visit including the ways of life before.

How to get there?

Before deciding to go to Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, you must secure your booking first at their offices. You can follow this link https://www.lascasasfilipinas.com/ for more updated rates in their hotels and day tour packages.

Ideally, I will not recommend you to commute as the place is situated in a secluded area. I would rather suggest to rent a car if you don’t own one for your own convenience.

However, if you like to commute for budget sake, then here it is:

1.      From Manila, you can take Buses in       Edsa, Cubao going to Bataan or straight   to Balanga starting from 4 a.m. -11p.m..
2.       From Balanga, you can take mini Bus  or  shuttle going to Bagac. This time you will have to walk around 300m to 350m going to     the gate.

Nevertheless, it can be a bit tedious to walk that far if you have baggage. Sad to note that the road from the highway going there is not cemented, it’s a rough road with the rice fields on both sides. Walking can be quite messy, as if it's sunny the road is dusty and if it's rainy, its muddy.

So choose and enjoy your trip! Bon Voyage!
