VENICE, QUEEN OF ADRIATIC!
HAIL TO THE QUEEN OF ADRIATIC!
One of the most beautiful city in the world is Venice in
Italy called “The Queen of Adriatic” which is not known to everyone. What the
world knows about her is that it’s a very romantic floating city. Yes, it's true
but how much do we know much about her?
Venice or Venezia is located in Northeastern part of Italy
and the city Capital of Veneto Region. It is situated within 118 group of
islands that are linked together by bridges and canals. The city is included in
PATREVE which means Padua – Treviso – Venice Metropolitan Area.
There are various names associaciated with Venice. The name Venice came from Veneti people during ancient time which inhabited the Island about 10th century BCE. Apart from being known as “The Queen of
Adriatic”, Venice has many names associated to her, like “La Dominante”,
“Serenissima”, “ City of Water”, “ City of Bridges”, “ City of Masks”, “The
Floating City”, and the “City of Canals”. All these names associated with her
holds true to the city.
The magnificent historical architectural designs in the city
exudes beauty and elegance throughout the test of time. It’s very elaborate,
elegant and shows the luxurious and
flamboyant way of life before. The building designs varies mainly from
different eras like the Baroque, Rococo, Gothic, and Renaissance. When I was
there, I said “Wooooooow!”, “It’s soooo beautiful”. All words I have spoken
were all admirations of the city. I can’t help myself but to fall in love with
her beauty.
The ride in Gondolas will allow you to explore the entire
city, its very romantic for couples. But since I Travelled alone, I just
imagined how would the ride will be having the love of my life sitting beside
me and together we enjoyed the ride. Sweet, isn’t it?
How to get there?
The Marco Polo airport is in the mainland. Getting there has
several options. You can use a private boat and be in your accommodation the
fastest way or either you can take the private water taxi.
They also have a public boat called Alilaguna which is the
cheapest one. The only thing with Alilaguna boat is that it has several stops
to several stations across the canals and you might have to walk for long
distance depending on the location of your hotel.
There's a also a private car service which you can pre book
it with your private driver. This is the most convenient way. The driver knows
already where are you heading so no need to worry.
The Language
Italy speaks Italian which is one among the languages of
love (French, Spanish, Italian, Romanian, and Portuguese) because it was derive
from Latin. Its very rare to find Italian speaking English. I recommend to
bring translator gadget with you. However, if you speak any of those five
languages of love then you might don’t need translator as they share many
similarities in linguistics.
The Food
Well, Doe’s anyone who doesn’t know about pizza, pasta, and
panini? They are an Italian dish, there you can savor various recipes of pasta
like Bolognese, pesto and etc., the same thing goes with pizza and panini.
Around the city, there many restaurants and wine bars from high end to casual
dining.
The Cost
Anywhere around Europe is expensive but since Italy is using
Euro as their currency, the cost is almost the same to some other countries
using Euro as a medium of exchange like France, Spain, Germany and many more.
The Environment
I love walking too much in Venice and even you would really
love also. It’s as if that it’s a vehicle free city. I often see people just
love walking. Boating is the main transportation around the city across the
canals. Like other European cities, Venice has many doves flying around and
feeding on the ground especially in Piazza de San Marco.
The Do’s and Don’ts
As they say “When your in Rome, Do what Romans Do”
First, do not eat while walking. Italians are very
meticulous when it comes to table manners. They find it inappropriate to eat
while walking because food should be eaten in the table.
Second, do wear a leather shoes. Wearing a leather shoes can
be quite exhausting especially if you have to walk for long distance but hey
don’t forget that the fashion capital is Milan and its in Italy. You can match
your leather shoes with jeans and t shirt but you need to put on a coat. Or
just pair it with formal long sleeves. Italians do love “Status Quo”.
Third, when your drinking wines or alcohols do not show that
your intoxicated. You have to show that you still have your composure and that
your judgment isn’t affected by the beverage.
I really love Italian wines and you will love it too. Just
don’t abuse it!
Buon Viaggio Romano! Arrivederci!
